What is an online B.Com?
B.Com develops your understanding of how businesses record transactions, report performance and make financial decisions. It is a foundation in commerce that can support further study, entry-level work or a separate professional qualification.
Who is it for?
A useful starting point if you enjoy working with numbers, want to understand business accounts or are exploring commerce after Class 12. Compare a general B.Com with honours, professional and specialisation-based variants before choosing.
Eligibility at a glance
10+2 or equivalent; subjects and minimum marks vary. Read the institution-specific requirements below before applying; the university decides eligibility.
What you can expect to study
A subject guide to help you read university curricula. Modules, credits and semester order differ; this is not a shared syllabus for every university.
Accounting foundations
Learn how transactions flow into ledgers and financial statements. Practise reading a balance sheet and understanding profit, cash and working capital.
Business and economics
Explore markets, business organisation, commercial law and the economic environment in which organisations operate.
Applied commerce
Compare the coverage of cost accounting, taxation, auditing, financial management and digital business in your chosen curriculum.
Electives and projects
Review the available electives and the project format. Some programmes offer subject pathways; their names and availability differ by university.
Skills to practise alongside the degree
- Spreadsheet organisation and basic analysis
- Financial statement interpretation
- Commercial reasoning and written communication
- Careful documentation and numerical accuracy
For independent practice, build a simple trading-business budget, reconcile a sample ledger or compare two annual reports. These are learning ideas, not promised university assignments.

Understand the full cost
Plan your studies with a clear view of tuition, examination charges and payment options. Our team can help you understand the fee structure for your chosen university.
Tuition, application or registration, examinations, project assessment and any repeat-paper charges.
A suitable device, reliable internet, optional learning tools and any required travel or campus activity.
Confirm scholarship conditions separately. A semester payment schedule and a lender-funded EMI are different arrangements. Read the fees and EMI checklist →
Your admission checklist
- Confirm the programme: check the exact institution, degree title, online mode and admission session.
- Review entry rules: confirm accepted qualifications, marks, subjects and any bridge study.
- Prepare documents: ask for the official checklist, including academic records, identity evidence and any equivalence requirements. Upload them only through the university’s verified process.
- Review the commitment: read payment, refund, attendance, examination and maximum-completion rules.
- Complete the official application: retain your application reference, receipts and written admission confirmation.
Build a study routine around your week
Use the academic calendar to reserve time for classes, reading and assignments. Keep a separate block for practice: accounting problems and financial analysis. During busy work periods, use available recordings to catch up while keeping assessment deadlines in view.
Choose the subject pathway, not just the title
Compare the modules behind each specialisation below. Ask when you choose electives, whether a track requires prior knowledge and how it appears on your academic record. A useful project and relevant subjects matter more than a long list of marketing labels.
Prepare for online proctored exams
Check the supported computer, webcam, internet and identity-verification requirements. Try the university’s system test, keep a quiet examination space and record the helpdesk contact before exam day.

You can explore M.Com for deeper commerce study, an MBA for broader management learning, or professional accounting pathways. Each has separate entry and completion requirements. A B.Com does not by itself confer a professional accounting designation.
Build evidence of your learning through projects, communication skills and relevant practical experience. University career support and employment outcomes should be assessed separately; no job or salary is guaranteed.
Your B.Com questions
B.Com or BBA: which should I explore?+
B.Com generally puts greater emphasis on commerce and accounting. BBA generally provides a broader introduction to management functions. Read the actual subject list and choose according to your interests.
Can I study B.Com alongside ACCA or CA?+
It may be possible to plan both, but check separate enrolment rules, examinations, workload and any claimed exemptions with the relevant bodies. Do not assume that every B.Com is formally integrated.
Is a specialisation compulsory?+
This depends on the programme. Check whether your university offers a general degree, elective tracks or a named specialisation, and how the choice appears on your academic records.
How do I check recognition?+
Verify the exact university, programme, online mode and admission session on the official UGC-DEB portal. A logo or accreditation badge alone does not establish entitlement for every programme.
